ART DECO WEEKEND’S HAUTE COUTURE

Location: Art Deco Welcome Center, 10th and Ocean Drive, Miami Beach (outside)

Date / Time: January 14, 2017 at 2:00pm

MDPL' s volunteer Fashion Show Director and vintage enthusiast, Angela La Muse, has curated a show inspired by the 1920's to 30's with a touch of mid century, sure to excite! Retro-inspired fashions from local designers will be presented on the runway.

The featured designers are Joann Chan, Lauren Lessa, Luis Aponte, Molly Kate Cline and Nadiya Shulhan!  One talented designer will be awarded $500 and a booth at ADW 2018. A special exhibit at the Art Deco Welcome Centre, following the festival, will display these fantastic fashions.

These new designs will be followed by vintage styles from L.A. Boudoir Miami.  You will be transported back in time to the 1920's, the age of opulence and glitz with these authentic period outfits. Each outfit is accessorized with one-of-kind headpieces created by designer & owner Lauren Arkin, using the finest antique and vintage fabrics, beading and appliques. All items can be purchased at L.A. Boudoir Miami booth after the show.

The finale of our fashion show will dazzle you with an array of swimwear that will remind you of the glamour of Hollywood in the 40s and 50s-- bathing suits that will bring back images of Marilyn Monroe and Esther Williams swimming in the surf and running along the shorelines of Malibu and Miami Beach. Adding even more spice and glitterati, one-of-a-kind sunglasses and jewelry will be featured on our bathing beauties, most designed by our Resident Artist, Iris Chase...and, in addition, retro and vintage pieces from the days of yesteryear---all available for purchase with a visit to our Gift Shop (1001 Ocean Drive). This event is well attended and takes place in the epicenter of South Beach- on Ocean Drive and 10th St. (Barbara Capitman Way). Standing room only!

The models, which are delegates of the Miss Art Deco pageant, will strut their stuff on runway. The students from the Beauty School of America, in vintage inspired looks, will provide their hair and make-up. Think pin curls and red lipstick! Be sure to come early and save your spot. This has become one of the most popular events at Art Deco Weekend!

Our favorite emcee, Janine Stanwood from LOCAL10 is back to host this popular show!
